My friend and styleNorth reader Vanessa did me a favour when she wrote to tell me about a delightful blog, unhappyhipsters.com. The site poaches shots like the one above from self-consciously hip decor mags like Dwell (photo by Gunnar Knechtel); the hipsters then add their own subversive captions that wittily skewer the lifestyle choices on display. In this case . . . “The frequent window washing and dry mopping required to keep the room sufficiently spartan became more than she could bear. The bed suffered the consequences.”
I wrote to the unhappy hipsters with a small quiver of questions but they declined, saying, “We’re enjoying our anonymity for now. Thanks.” I’ve added the site to my blogroll and encourage you to visit often for sly, wry pokes at those who’d rather wrap themselves in design than decoration. Thanks Vanessa!

Happyhipsters is bookmarked and I’ve added The St. Lawrence antique market to my ‘to do list’.
Have a great day Chris!

Decorno mentioned this, I think it was while you were away. Hilarious, no?

Funny – I discovered this blog today through Julia @ Hooked on Houses, only to drop in here and see you sharing the luv, too! :-) I surfed back through many pages of UH’s posts and, in most cases, laughed almost to tears. Love the sarcastic, intellegent humour!!

Too too funny! Hard to pick a favourite but the sad little urchin in his knotty pine cell is right up there.
