Sincere thanks to all of you who filled out my readership survey; it has given me a much better picture of who I’m writing for. So far the survey has been answered by 273 individuals and it’s not too late to add your details; just click the link above.
So who is the styleNorth reader? She’s a college-educated, Canadian woman in her 30s or 40s; she owns her home and earns in excess of $60,000 per annum. Of course, there are exceptions: 17 per cent of you are male and 26 per cent of you rent your homes. Most surprising to me is that half of you say you’ve purchased something after seeing it on styleNorth. Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence! I’ll try not to let you down.
Google Analytics provides a more holistic picture of the blog’s reach. In the last month we had nearly 10,000 unique visitors (16,663 total visits) who viewed just under 42,000 pages. The average reader views 2.5 pages per visit and spends 2:29 minutes on the site.
In terms of geographic range, Google confirms that most of my readers (67 per cent) are indeed in Canada, although in the course of the last month I’ve had visits from as far away as Rwanda (12), Malaysia (15), Japan (19) and New Zealand (14).
I admit I find this data deeply satisfying and I hope I can keep the numbers growing by giving you more of what you’re looking for. If you have content suggestions, please leave me a comment below and I’ll do my best to cover your ideas in future posts. Thanks for reading and please keep coming back!

Hi Chris!
You’re doing a great job with the website. I’m very glad to have been following – your recommendation to MOST landed furniture for me AND my parents. And the article on steel wool and brass plating? We’ll be trying this tonight on refinishing my mom’s staircase.
Craiglist finds are great; DIYs with regards to refinishing are great; and local store reviews are GREAT. Never would’ve found MOST without this site!
Cheers,
Olya

Hilarious – I haven’t filled out the survey but I fit the demographic to a T!

I have to say I had NO IDEA how many people designed chairs until I started reading this blog! Now I look at every chair for sale thinking “I wish Chris was here to tell me if it is worth anything and who designed it!
Congrats on your success!

I’d guess your results would also say that most of your readers are from Toronto. Which is fine, but your tagline should read “Real Torontonians Decorating” not “real canadians”.
Anyone from outside the GTA would have little time for this site.
As a Winnipeg-based designer, I will be unsubscribing from this feed.
Really you have a great blog here, but you must admit the title is a bit misleading.

Jaclyn, you’re right, of course, about the Toronto-centric focus. StyleNorth is not a money-making venture at this point, and since I can’t pay contributors there’s not a lot of incentive for them to throw stories my way. It’s a labour of love, pure and simple.
That said, we’ve had posts from Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Montreal so I’m certainly making an effort. Also, Torontonians are most definitely Canadians!

I adore your site, and appreciate the work you have put into it. It is comforting to finally find a ‘time well spent’ window shopping. Truly Canadian.
The best part for me: decorating purchases can be achieved by buying local – aka accessible by transit. Vancouver and Montreal are just a wee bit too far for me to Saturday shop.
Thank you.

Hi HK,
Your remark about transit resonates with me; I’ve moved countless decor purchases via Toronto’s own TTC including an oversize Pottery Barn bergere chair, a 48″ round coffee table and a LARGE framed painting that will soon be unveiled here along with my new apartment. Stay tuned . . .
