I can’t vouch for the durability of these washable, viscose rugs from Belgium ($29 – $139) but they sure look terrific. In fact, Moss, a well-established garden store on Toronto’s Danforth Avenue, has one of the best selections of indoor/outdoor and washable rugs I’ve ever come across. And their prices are very competitive.
I’m a big, big fan of these large outdoor mats made from recycled drink bottles; Mike and I buy a new one each season to cover up the peeling paint on our front porch and it lasts right through the winter. Moss has two types: colourful Mad Mats, above left ($39 – $110, as well as 2.5′ x 8′ runners for $49), and more sophisticated, patterned polypropylene mats, above right, from Belgium ($36 – $159).
Click through to see Moss’s range of rag rugs, dhurries, jutes and coco mats . . .
The coco doormats, above, are $28 each and come in a range of colourful patterns. The latex-backed jute mats and runners (24″ x 82″, $69), below, are from Quebec’s Accents de Ville and these I can vouch for because we have one at home in our kitchen.
And finally, Moss has a very good selection of rag rugs perfect for the cottage or mud room, below right, (4′ x 6′, $36) and Indian dhurries ranging in size from 2′ x 3′ ($34) to 6′ x 9′ ($399).
If you’re looking for floor coverings to spruce up your deck or patio you could hardly do better than a stop at Moss.

I am in the market for a viscose, Belgian-made runner 10 x 2.5 feet long. Also a smaller, matching 4 x 2.5 foot mat. Navy, gold and rich red colour or close match.
