A Very Pretty Porch

Just look at this pretty porch on Indian Road Crescent; the planters and hanging baskets pull the greenery and colour of the landscaped front yard right up and onto the doorstep. The hue of the perennials was taken into consideration long before they bloomed and is reflected with similar shades of annuals in the container garden above.

The summer here in Toronto has been a bit lack-lustre weather-wise but I’ve still been able to snag some relaxing moments out on my tiny condominium balcony. The fact that I’ve decorated the 3’ x 8’ space on a resourceful budget further enhances my satisfaction.

The Colours of Montreal

Mike and I are just back from a fun and exhausting long weekend in Montreal so I'll be blogging about the city's decorating and design scene all this week. One thing we noticed over and over was how colourful the city is. Balconies, fire escapes, roofs and railings are often dressed-up in cheery hues. I loved the facade, below centre, with blue eyes and gratuitous metal eyebrows and mustache -- how fabulous!

A Little Something For Sunday

I tripped through Toronto's HorseFeathers Home this week where I couldn't miss this display of gargantuan planters, on sale now for 60 - 75 per cent off ($30 - $130). That's a BIG discount on big pots that range from about a foot high to nearly four feet tall. Then yesterday, while mooching along Queen Street East, I spied these vignettes down a little mews; the arrangements are a simple testament to the power of threes.
