While I was seeing Emanuel at Old Fashioned Restoration I popped across the street to Eclectic Revival (3075 Dundas St. West, 416.766.5500) where owner Pete Breeze has THE most stunning vintage Italian suspension light in the window. Priced at $3,500 the light would break the bank but OMG, what a stunner!

The sale signage caught my attention and when I looked in the window and saw the blue leopard print from Frette, well, I knew I was back to blogging. Charming sales rep Hema explained that this is a new pattern for Frette, makers of some of the world's finest bedding. The shop, Palais Royale House & Home also carries Yves Delorme, Sferra and the divine Pratesi. Bedding is one area I encourage splurge. I would rather have one fantastic set that gets washed and put right back on the bed than a linen closet full of poor quality sheets.

I'm not sure how to make this post feel like anything other than an ad for Calligaris's new Orbital table but I'm so taken with the video that I can't resist posting it. With a gentle nudge the pivoting mechanism — designed by Pininfarina, the renowned design and engineering company behind Ferrai, Maserati and Alfa Romeo — expands or contracts the sleek glass, steel and polyurethane table. The Orbital, which retails in Canada for $7,833, recently won a German 2012 Interior Innovation Award. This is one sexy dining table!

It felt like IDS all over again when I popped into Toronto's Fiber Living last week and stumbled upon the jaw-dropping work of Mexican design firm Pirwi. Fiber's Ansis Kalnins told me the furnishings had just arrived from Mexico City and hadn't been on the floor for a week yet so what you're seeing here is literally fresh off the truck. Pirwi's designers are focused on sustainable materials and practices and they mix the latest computerized cutting tech with old fashioned hand bending and finishing to craft tables, chairs and case goods that look and feel truly innovative. Constructed mostly of plywood, the designs are skeletal, geometric and absolutely beautiful. Pricey, too, as you might expect from products this cutting edge.

INabstracto owner Kate Eisen and textile/wallpaper designer Julie Jenkinson have teamed to create a pop-up store at Toronto's DX. Jenkinson's Animaze pattern, which I blogged about back in August 2009, is the connecting thread, showing up on everything from cushions and dog beds to pajamas, cloth bags and upholstery for some of Eisen's iconic mid-century pieces like a Jacques Guillon Cord Chair and a Russel Spanner dining chair. Classic vintage pieces in immaculate condition don't come cheap, however, so be prepared to open your wallet wide if you crave a piece of this action. The Chord Chair is $995 and the Spanner piece is $650. There's also an impressive Herman Miller sectional by Guy Chadwick available, five pieces priced at $4,500. Yeah, like I said, big money. But also big style.
