On Craigslist yesterday, I came across these fab 1950s table lamps priced at $120. Such style! I'd buy them in an instant if our house wasn't already heaving with more lamps than we'll ever be able to use. I've currently got six lamps of my own up on Craigslist, two pairs and a couple of singles. I don't need any more lamps. So help me out, buy these. Please. 'Cause if they're still there on Monday morning, well, there's just no telling what I might do.

Tripod lamps are hot, hot, hot. I'm seeing them in advertisements, shelter mags and certainly in the stores I visit. StyleNorth also gets a constant trickle of search hits from people on the hunt for this must-have accessory so I thought it was time I did a little survey of where to find this bold, contemporary accent.

What caught my eye was Ohm's branch "collection" of lamps, mirrors and room dividers. Constructed from bleached natural branches, the pieces take "organic" design to its logical conclusion. The floor lamp, above left ($700), was my favorite piece and made for an eye-catching window display; the smaller table lamp beside it is priced at $340 and the denser, more sculptural table lamp, above centre, is $495.

This fine looking Mademoiselle chair by Ilmari Tapiovaara sat on our next door neighbour's front porch for months before they finally wised up and took it inside for safe keeping. And these beauties, knock-offs of Hans Wegner's P512 folding chairs reside on a porch just blocks from our house in Bloor West Village. What a fantastic city when you can leave $1,000 chairs out on your porch and not worry about them.
