Drake was in the news last week when media outlets jumped on the fact that the Canadian hip hop star’s Yorkville condo is on the market for $4.2 million. Naturally, the listing features photos of the 3,600 square foot unit at 1 St. Thomas and it is not a triumph of great taste, at least not in my opinion. As one astute commenter on BlogTO wrote, “Looks like someone went to Restoration Hardware and said, ‘Give me one of everything.’ ”
The one thing canopy chair quarterbacks agreed on was that Drake’s map of Canada bookshelf is the coolest. Dying to know how much such a thing might cost, I tracked the piece down: available from Toronto’s Prototype Design Lab, the Canada Shelf retails for $18,500, plus $100 delivery charge (installation not included). Yes, for the the price of a decent used car, you can have your very own symbol of true patriot love.
As for Drake’s condo, the 22nd floor unit is accessed via private elevator, naturally, and features 3,600 square feet with 2 + 1 bedrooms and three baths, the monthly maintenance fees are $3,300 and the property taxes are assessed at $33,308. I guess with those kinds of charges, Drizzy can afford a $20,000 bookshelf, why not?
