Blue Leopard . . . Purrr

The sale signage caught my attention and when I looked in the window and saw the blue leopard print from Frette, well, I knew I was back to blogging. Charming sales rep Hema explained that this is a new pattern for Frette, makers of some of the world’s finest bedding. The shop, Palais Royale House & Home (87 Avenue Road), also carries Yves Delorme (20 per cent off until January 27), Sferra and the divine Pratesi.

Palaise Royale is in Toronto’s Hazleton Lanes so a bit of sticker shock is a given, but we’re talking quality here, people, the creme de la creme. The leopard duvet cover is printed on linen and lined on the underside with a heavenly smooth cotton, now $598 after 40 per cent discount. Shams (standard and Euro) are $214 each, fitted and flat sheets are $385 each in matching solids.

Bedding is one area I encourage splurge. I would rather have one fantastic set that gets washed and put right back on the bed than a linen closet full of poor quality sheets. Good bedding will last at least twice as long and provide twice the comfort so why shouldn’t it cost twice the price?

I’m sorry but it’s ugly. there. I said ugly. I would much rather get a good quality set of italian (umbrian if possible) sheets and a nice coverlet for a fraction of the price. I’m all for paying for quality but this is a “sham” (lol could not resist).

Thanks for sharing Shelly. I suspect that the lack of comments on this post means that more than a few readers agree with you.

I love good quality linens too. Two sets of sheets per bed make my world go round but I agree with Chris if you can only swing one you’re still better off than a musty linen closet full. And what’s with the linen closet thing anyway? I hang the spare set neatly folded over a suit hanger with my clothes. Even when I had a walk in sized linen closet everything smelled a little less than sweet and it encourages random storage.
To date I have managed to pick up the likes of Frette, Anichini and Missoni at the Leaside Home Sense.
