Christmas Came Early

Recently, I was contacted by a publicist on behalf of FujiFilm who said the company wanted me to try out their retro-sexy, new XF1 camera. That’s right, they wanted to give me a free digital camera and all they wanted in return was some feedback, my impressions on the product’s performance. I was very clear that I would not blog about it unless I was truly sold on the camera’s merits.

This week, a package arrived with my new XF1 and a gorgeous, multi-pocket ultra-practical bag from Danier. The vegan in me is horrified that a cow died for the sake of this; the cellphone- and camera-toting urban blogger in me is delighted, thrilled at the prospect of having a good-looking, convenient little case with compartments for all of modern life’s necessities. I still haven’t decided what to do with it — am I really ready for a man-purse? A murse?

As for the XF1, it’s a great looking little camera and I’ll have the perfect opportunity to test it out in India where I’m headed for a two-week road trip beginning this afternoon. I’ll digest the user manual on the plane and hopefully be ready to shoot when I hit the ground on the other side of the world.

In the meantime, I wish you all abundant luck and love in 2013. I hope Santa is as good to you as FujiFilm has been to me.

Personally I cannot wait to see your pics of India, I hope you post some here or tell me where to see them. I’ve been obsessed with India for years. And if you decide you cannot in good conscience carry that bag, you know where to find me (ha ha). My Lumix GF1 would fit nicely.

Good things come to good people. Have a super time in India and bring back lots of pictures for us taken with your new camera. My thought is that men have always been able to carry a Camera bag. And they are darned convenient for carrying maps, travel cheques and tickets etc. when you travel. And far better than having a wallet in a back pocket waiting to be picked. All the best in 2013.

Enjoy your trip and working with that new camera. I’m currently carrying a small backpack, but I’m a fan of the murse.
