I was aware of storage auctions long before Storage Wars became an unlikely reality TV hit; I know a man here in Toronto who makes his living buying and selling the contents of abandoned storage lockers and unclaimed luggage. If you get a kick out of the show and want to see how locker roulette is really played then Friday’s auction at Toronto’s Spaces Self Storage (356 Eastern Ave., 416.465.9900) is where you want to be (March 30, 10 am). There’s also a couple of local websites that run these kinds of auctions: Storwell.com and Reinhart Auctions.
And then there’s a non-decor event you might be interested in, the Evergreen Brick Works Community Clothing Swap on April 1 (550 Bayview Ave., 416.596.7670): bring your good condition clothes between 10 am and noon, then start swapping from 1 – 3 pm. Suggested donation is $5; there’s a one item minimum and 10 item maximum. Any unwanted clothes at the end of the day are donated to the United Way.

We also love Storage Wars and we have actually taken over Storwell’s online auctions. Check out our website BID13.com for the current auctions. Currently we have a unit that has been up for only a week and the bids are already over $2500 (bid13.com/storage-auctions/storwell/unit-858)!!! There are some real Storage Warriors here in Canada!
