Once again, I’m going to miss Canada’s largest antique show and sale May 29 because unfortunately, I’m moving house three days later. Spending and acquiring are verboten at this point. But YOU should definitely not miss this vintage furniture free-for-all, a kind of carnival for decor junkies. And lest you think it’s all dusty oak, walnut and mahogany, I assure you the diversity of goods is unparalleled. With 300 dealers spread over the 10-acre Christie Conservation Area in Dundas, Ontario, the treasure is nearly boundless. I have found kilim cushions, Indian brass lamps, mid-century tulip chairs, you name it. Some prices are bound to be high but there will also be bargains galore. Happy hunting — please report back in the comments field if you’re able to go and let us know how you made out. I’ve already put a black-out on the date of the fall show, September 11 — by then I’ll be truly settled with replenished coffers, here’s hoping, anyway.

That’s too bad you will have to miss it. I’m definitely going and will write about my finds on my blog. I also did a recent post on what Sarah Richardson found at the last Christie’s Spring show.
Hope your move goes well!

I’m moving next week too. Against my better judgement I’m still going to the show. But only with $150. I’ll see how many little somethings I can fill up on. I don’t need any big pieces right now.
Good luck with your move.

Thanks for letting me know about it! It was very hot, and had a lot of excellent stuff! I bought very little, but I posted a picture of one of my finds on my blog. Can’t wait for the fall show, I should be more prepared to buy some bigger pieces then.

Hi! Thanks for this posting. My boyfriend and I went and had a lovely time! Since neither of us drive, we took our bikes on the Go Train to Hamilton friday night, made the trek to Dundas Saturday morning, and biked from Dundas to the Burlington Go Train station once we were finished. It was a long day (so much to look at!), but fun. The bikes meant that we weren’t able to get anything bigger than our baskets, but we had a good haul nonetheless. Maybe you’ll get to go in September, and we’ll have enough time to organize an actual car ride up!
Cheers!
