Toronto’s Rosedale decor strip has been enjoying a renaissance in recent months with a trio of fantastic new shops that I’ll be blogging about as soon as I can pull the post together. In the meantime, I want to share this stunning console on display in the window of one of my longtime favorite haunts, Decorum Decorative Finds (1210 Yonge St., 416.966.6829).
The case is lacquered wood and the inset, which looks like unpolished marble, is made of a molded composite. On sale for $850, the piece is breathtaking, exactly the kind of modern-meets-exotica that makes my pulse race. If my living situation weren’t so up-in-the-air I’d have brought the table home with me yesterday. Instead, some other lucky soul will build a magazine-worthy vignette around it — I trust they’ll cherish it as I would.

Gorgeous!

I spotted the two aluminum/stainless-looking sculptures to the left and right of it. I wonder what the vignette would look like with those under the console? Like a metal fire in a fireplace? LOVE the lampshades! We’ll keep our fingers crossed it’s still for sale when you feel you can finally purchase the table!

I truly enjoy receiving great info on furniture, etc., but really don’t care about your living situation or lack therof!

Heather,
My home has always played a very big part in styleNorth. There are thousands of decor blogs out there, I invite you to find one that better suits your taste.

I love it, so pretty. Hey Chris, didn’t you speak once of having a collaborative blog? I remember something along these lines from a while ago (it might have been years, who knows?). Anyway, I just noticed your “thousands of blogs out there” comment and guess that I still have dreams of an apartmenttherapy type site for Canadians :)

Hi Ginger,
Yes, what a wonderful dream it was. But I eventually discovered that working full-time and blogging full-time nearly killed me, never mind managing a much larger site. Unfortunately, blogging doesn’t pay too many bills so I’ve opted for solvency over passion and poverty. I trust you understand.

And solvency means you can actually afford to purchase some of these beautiful items!
Blog when you can; I, for one, am always happy to see new posts on this site. Many thanks.

Table is not my style but I love those lamps!

Chris,
So glad you’re still bringing us goodies now and again…always brightens my day.
Lin
P.S. I second Neville’s thoughts on the lamps. Outstanding!

Hey Chris -
I hear you on that, I love blogging but fully realize that it will always be just a hobby. I guess I was just trying to open the door to say, “Hey! You should consider creating a group blog with this one as the jumping off point.” God knows that I would love to write with you and share the load. Seems kind of silly to have all of these individual hobby-writers out there, posting weekly – if we all came together, combined I bet we could have items almost daily :)
