At the LG Holiday Wish List Tour, our host, Frank, advised us to get comfortable in our designated TV-watching chair or sofa and to wait 20 minutes until we had slouched into true couch potato mode; only then should we measure eye level, which is where the centre of the screen should be positioned. All those design shows installing televisions above fireplace mantles are missing the mark . . . by about four feet!

I love meeting people who are passionate about the decorative arts and Holly Gnaedinger definitely fits the bill. A dedicated collector of ceramics and glassware, Holly turned her passion into a profession a few years ago when she teamed up with fellow collector Marie Lyons-Cooper to open Twice Found. The store specializes in "vintage modern" glass, tableware and furnishings, with serious detours into Asian arts and even jewellery. Ecectic? Definitely. Colourful? Indubidibly.

When HGTV star Cheryl Torrenueva suggested we meet at HomeSense I was thrilled. I've been wanting to cover this national, discount decor emporium since I started styleNorth but frankly, every time I go to one of their stores I feel like the prices are cheap but so is the quality. "You have to know what to look for," advises Cheryl, who's just as pretty and effervescent in person as she is on TV.

On Craigslist yesterday, I came across these fab 1950s table lamps priced at $120. Such style! I'd buy them in an instant if our house wasn't already heaving with more lamps than we'll ever be able to use. I've currently got six lamps of my own up on Craigslist, two pairs and a couple of singles. I don't need any more lamps. So help me out, buy these. Please. 'Cause if they're still there on Monday morning, well, there's just no telling what I might do.
