Troop Your Colours Canada!

We Canadians are a funny bunch; in the weeks leading up to Canada’s July 1 birthday (142-years old today!) flags appear on porches across the country and then in the weeks that follow our national holiday, those same flags get folded up and put away for another year. What’s wrong with us? Americans wouldn’t dream of flying the stars and stripes for one week or one month per year, their patriotism is a permanent part of their culture. Canada has so much to be proud of — I think we should all be flying flags 365 days a year. Troop your colours Canada!

    Happy Canada Day you guys!

Some of my neighbours have custom flags that they change with the season (cherry blossoms in spring, pumpkins/harvest in fall, rainbow for pride etc.). I’ve seen cabbages in Cabbagetown (yeah!). I haven’t confirmed this but I think the Republic of Rathnelly has their own.

One of my favourite questions: If you were to design your own flag, what would it be?
