Yesterday, I stumbled upon a pretty great resource called Decopedia, the modern design encyclopedia. An offshoot of Deconet, a newish contender in the online furnishings space, Decopedia is a wiki for modern design enthusiasts that benefits from Deconet’s photographic database. For instance, if you search Hans Wegner under the “designers” category, you’ll get a brief career overview and 200 images of Wegner furniture designs, including pieces currently available on Deconet.
Deconet’s mandate is to be “a revolutionary marketplace for Modern Design . . . and provide buyers and sellers with more information than has ever been available before.” Decopedia needs to be a lot more comprehensive before it lives up to that ambition but it’s well on its way. This is a web resource worth bookmarking.
