I can’t take credit for this fabulous find–Mike sent me the Craigslist link yesterday thinking the chairs would be perfect for Julie and Vince. Now, $800 for a pair of chairs may not seem like a bargain to you but a similar Baughman chair, below, is currently selling on 1stdibs.com for $3,800 USD! For one chair!
We don’t see much Milo Baughman furniture up here in Canada, which is a crying shame since he’s one of my favorite modern furniture designers. A stalwart of the 1960s and 70s, Baughman’s best work was produced by Thayer Coggin of High Point, North Carolina. The designer died in 2003 making his pieces more collectible than ever.
I predict you’ll see the Craigslist chairs in a Leslieville shop window next week for two or three times the price.
