La Merceria is truly a curiosity shop; part housewares store, part neighborhood café, it has a European charm all its own.
Quirky retail displays have a vintage feel but the goods are all very of the moment; Dwell Studio bedding ($275), Mepra and Roost flatware, dishes from Germany’s Kahla and Potluck Studios, and stemware from Bormioli Rocco ($7 per glass). There’s also a full line of environmentally friendly soaps and cleaners from Caldrea. Decorative bowls made from recycled magazines are priced according to size ($28 – $65) and Le Palais des Thés is $35 for a 125g tin. You’ll also find a curated selection of cards and paper goods, as well as luxe throws and tea towels.
And whether you sit down for a sip and a nosh or take your goodies away, don’t miss the shop’s exceptional coffee, pastries (the current buns are yummy), empanadas and French-style savory tarts. Every neighbourhood should have a La Merceria.

My chiropractor is right around the corner…so I often treat myself to some Caldera, or coffee, at this place!
