Tomorrow is your chance to see how the other half lives, the half (one per cent?) in pursuit of $9,000 chairs and $23,000 sofas. Martin Myers, the brains behind Quasi Modo Modern Furniture is kicking things up a notch with the grand opening, September 27, of his latest venture OneTwenty Modern at 120 Ossington Avenue in Toronto. An ultra high-end, gallery-cum-retail space, OneTwenty Modern displays some of the world’s most talked about furnishings, many of them from edra: pieces like Fernando and Humberto Campana’s Vermelha Armchair (above left, $9,264) and their Favela Chair (above right, $4,350), inspired by the slums of Brazil where furniture is frequently constructed from salvaged scraps.
And then there’s the $23,215 modular sectional (above), the On the Rocks Sofa by Francesco Binfaré in gelly foam, lycra and rubber. I especially liked the vignette, below left, featuring Patricia Urquiola’s Log Armchair for Artelano ($3,725) with Nani Marquina‘s Victoria rug ($4,000, 5.6′ x 7.’). The setting below right features the Palm Springs sectional ($9,184) and the chrome and granite Anna Branca table ($2,215), both by Christopher Pillet.
All those gorgeous, expensive furnishings will be set off for the occasion by a new series of photographs by George Whiteside who helps launch OneTwenty Modern with an exhibition of pictures focusing on birds in flight. Whiteside will be in attendance Saturday from 6 – 9 pm.

These items require dangerous stretch from “flea market budget” :).
Can you actually try these pieces out?
