The pop art bathroom suite in the window of Vienna Douglas (677 Dupont Street) literally stopped me in my tracks. On my third drive-by I had no choice but to pull the car over and investigate. The eye-popping piece in the window (above) is from Paris-based Decotec, a company specializing in bathroom fixtures forged from solid surface and translucent, coloured resins.
Priced from $625 (for the Sucre model, above left in yellow) to $5,660 (for the Couture suite, top pic), the company’s designs are fashion-forward but also amazingly space efficient for anyone determined to turn a hall closet into a powder room. Sinks and cabinetry float on the wall leaving floor space open and visually clear.
If I was redoing a salon de bain, I’d get a plain white toilet from a Habitat for Humanity Restore and splash out on a Decotec sink/vanity combo, specifically the New York model below with the translucent aqua countertop ($2,095). So cool, so beautiful!
