The Salvage Shop

Like most salvage specialists, The Salvage Shop’s Roy Clifford stocks old doors, mantles, railings and the like, but where he really shines is in the hardware department—the shop’s collection of vintage and antique drawer pulls, hinges, knockers and knobs is astonishing. And we’re not just talking brass and iron, either. Clifford’s inventory includes pulls in glass, chrome, bakelite, you name it. His shop is a veritable treasure trove for the home renovator or crafty hobbiest looking to repair or revive a flea-market find.
The glazed ceramic busts below are priced at $80 (for the pair).
And while you’re there on the edge of civilization (Kingston Rd. just east of Warden), take a few minutes to cruise through A Nothing New Shoppe, next door. A classic junktique shop, recent finds included a 1960s metal starburst ($45) and a lovely 1940s chinoserie-style, black, painted cabinet for $495. A set of Billy Baldwin-worthy, Chinese figural lamps were priced at just $150 for the pair.
